Cross Into The Mirage

One Show Only

Hawaiʻi Theatre
October 22  —  7pm

Liʻulā

Twilight, dusk — the hour the veil thins, when shapes shift and shadows start to breathe.

In Hawaiian, Liʻulā means twilight; the in-between hour where light bends, and nothing is quite what it seems.

This October, Taimane invites you to cross into Liʻulā and journey through the darkness.

Enter ready for a full-sensory experience built around the nocturnal, magical side of Hawaiʻi — the stories told only after dark: night marchers moving silently along old trails, ancestors who remain forever present, moonflowers that open only once the sun is gone.

Drawing from her new album of the same name (Liʻulā), Taimane reimagines the ʻukulele as something closer to a conjuring instrument, blending Hawaiian tunings with atmospheric harmonics perfect for leading all in attendance, and on stage, deep into the abyss.

A grand ensemble will join Taimane at Hawaiʻi Theatre, ready to stimulate with music, dance, costume, aerial acrobatics, spoken word and more. The cast includes:

  • Samadhi Hawaii Aerial performance suspending the mirage in all directions
  • Kealoha Spoken word bringing the night's moʻolelo to life
  • Contemporary Dancers Contemporary movement grounding the supernatural
  • Polynesian Dancers Traditional hula and Polynesian dance carrying ancestral voices

October 22 inside the historic confines of this 104-year-old theatre — come see what's shimmering at the edge of the dark.

Advance purchase recommended. Taimane's last Hawaiʻi Theatre production sold out.

Accolades

"Taimane rocks the stage with a sensual vibrancy and a white-hot talent that captivates and beguiles!"

Pierce Brosnan (aka 007)

"Taimane is, without exaggeration, an inspiration and immense talent unlike any other. Her virtuosic ʻukulele playing helped inspire this entire score, while also being an invaluable asset and collaborator throughout the recording process."

Evan Duffy, musical producer of Cirque du Soleil's 'ʻAuana'

"If you didn't know ukulele virtuosity is a thing, get on board. Taimane Gardner is not just in her own league on the instrument; she's a captivating performer as well. And on top of that, she's a masterful songwriter and interpreter. Ukulele, meet your triple threat."
